Troika summit on

President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi is today scheduled to participate in a virtual SADC organ troika summit.

A press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation says member states, Zimbabwe, as the current chair and Zambia as the outgoing chair will also be in attendance.  Botswana is the incoming chair.

Noting that the summit will deliberate on issues of peace and security in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the release says DRC and the United Nations Organisation

Stabilisation Mission in the DRC (MONUSCO), SADC Force Intervention Brigade (FIB) contributing countries; namely Malawi, South Africa, and Tanzania, will also participate.

Virtual meetings of SADC senior officials as well as ministers of foreign affairs, defence and security were slated for August 4-5 respectively ahead of the summit.

Ministers Dr Unity Dow, Mr Kabo Morwaeng and Mr Kagiso Mmusi for International Affairs and Cooperation, Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration and Defence, Justice and Security respectively will accompany President Masisi. Ends
