Councillors appreciate efforts

Serowe Administration Authority has appreciated efforts made towards completion of the Malatswae Community Trust Ranch.

Councillors were commenting on Malatswae project review and development budget estimates report presented by the chairperson of the finance and works committee, Mr Goabamang Setlhaba.

Speaking during the SAA  meeting recently, councillors said the project would play an important role in the development and empowerment of Malatswae community.

Paje/Mabeleapudi Councillor, Mr Nametso Senkhu said it was important to start Malatswae Community ranch to benefit the community.

He said though it took time for the project to be completed, he was happy that it was going to be completed. He however pleaded with the sub-council to look into other community projects in the Serowe Administration Authority to uplift the lives of the communities.

The 3 600 hectares farm was allocated in 2011 and has capacity to accommodate 350 cattle.

Presenting the development budget estimates report, Mr Setlhaba said the sub-council had been allocated P149m and the expenditure currently stood at P135.7m .

He said the estimated total budget for the sub-district was P454.9m. He explained that for the year 2021/22 the budget estimates stood at P152.5m, for 2022/23 was P153.5m while P148. 9m was for 2023/24.

He said the development projects encompassed community constituency projects, destitute and RADP housing, further indicating that material and psycho- social support for orphans and the needy had also been included.

On community development projects, he said, the budget would cater for water reticulation and stocking of cattle at Malatswae ranch to complete it.

Mr Setlhaba said the budget estimates of P20m from road levy fund would help the SAA to improve the Serowe internal roads.

The work would cover construction of culverts, paving, road markings and asphalt overlay, he added.

He said primary school backlog eradication had been included to cater for construction and maintenance of primary school facilities. Construction of type two offices under customary courts, a vehicle and Ipelegeng had also been budgeted for. Ends
