Assistant Minister of Basic Education, Ms Nnaniki Makwinja says plans are underway to maintain dilapidated secondary schools, boarding hostels and increase staff accommodation at Nata-Gweta Constituency.

She added that Sua Junior Secondary School was also last maintained in 2013/14 and was also planned for cyclic maintenance in the 2022/23 financial year.

Similiarly, she said cyclic  maintenance of Kutlwano JSS was planned for 2022/23 having had  last maintenance carried out in 2011/12 financial year.

She explained that funds were distributed to schools to carry out minor maintenance such as plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs which were  done as the need arose.

With regards to housing Ms Makwinja said her ministry was aware of shortage of housing in many schools and would continue building staff housing, funds permitting.

Currently, she said there were no funds to provide additional housing at Dukwi, Sua, Nxakato and Kutlwano JSS schools.

The Nata-Gweta MP, Mr Polson Majaga had asked the minister tell Parliament  as to  when her ministry intended to maintain dilapidated classrooms, boarding hostels and increase staff accommodation at Dukwi, Nxakato, Sua and Kutlwano junior secondary schools respectively.   ends
