Ramotswa VDC donates chairs PA system to kgotla

29 Jul 2020

The outgoing Ramotswa umbrella Village Development Committee (VDC) donated 100 chairs and a public address system worth over P16 000 to the village kgotla.

Receiving the donations on July 28 at Ramotswa main kgotla, Kgosi Mosadi Seboko of Baletse said the donations met the community’s needs.

Kgosi Mosadi said the kgotl chairs were old and needed replacement.

As for the public address system, she said the community did not have one, adding that the acquired one would be helpful during kgotla meetings, especially that the community had to adhere to social distancing as a new normal.

Kgosi Mosadi further said the public address system will be used to publicise important messages to the village such as convening meetings.

She stated that the need for community consultations at kgotla meetings could not be overemphasised, as kgotla afforded the community an opportunity to share ideas and pave way for developments.

Furthermore, Kgosi Mosadi said dikgosi were mandated with the welfare of their communities, hence calling consultative meetings was at the core of dikgosi’s mandate.

More often, she said dikgosi were associated with reprimanding, yet that was not the only task assigned to dikgosi.

In addition, Kgosi Mosadi thanked the umbrella VDC for their wonderful working relations with bogosi during their tenure in office.

“You have set the pace for the upcoming VDC, I see you as role models,” said Kgosi Mosadi.

Umbrella VDC chairperson, Mr Super Rathebe said the committee decided to donate to the tribal administration after seeing the need.

Mr Rathebe said the committee intended to buy a podium for the kgotla and a chair for kgosikgolo, but that had not been realised yet.

He was hopeful that the incoming committee would  continue where the out going one  left.

Gamalete deputy chief, Kgosi Tsimane Mokgosi also thanked the umbrella VDC for their gesture, saying the outbreak of coronavirus did not mean life had come to an end.

He said there was need to continue with life while adhering to health protocols such as washing hands, sanitising, keeping a register and taking body temperatures at public places.

The outgoing Ramotswa umbrella Village Development Committee is expected to hand office in the near future. ENDS
