Ms  Priscilla Moswaane, wife to Francistown West MP, was laid to rest in Francistown on July 25.

Several speakers at the funeral praised Ms Moswaane for displaying a high level of patriotism.

In a message that was read to mourners, President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi described Ms Moswaane as a patriot, who believed in the principles of democracy and good governance.

President Masisi said he was saddened to learn of the passing on of Ms Moswanne, who was a Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) member.

“Accept my deepest support and condolences on the passing away of your wife” reads part of the message to Mr Ignatius Moswaane.

The Vice President, Mr Slumber Tsogwane, also conveyed his message of condolences, saying Ms Moswaane’s’ death was also a loss to the nation.

Mr Tsogwane said the deceased was a true democrat who believed in supporting the people of Botswana and BDP.

“She dedicated her entire life to the affairs of the ruling Botswana Democratic Party. Her passing away is not only a loss to the family but to the whole nation,” he added.

In his message, Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr Phandu Skelemani said he was saddened by the passing on of Ms Moswaane and wished comfort on the Moswaane family.

Member of BDP Women’s Caucus and Member of Parliament for Kgalagadi North, Ms Talita Monnakgotla, praised Ms Moswaane for being a supportive wife to Mr Moswaane.

Ms Monnakgotla said although Ms Moswaane was not popular in party politics, ‘she supported my campaign to win the election in 2019.’

Francistown South MP, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi, described the deceased as a loving person who supported her husband through thick and thin.

For his part, Mr Moswaane described her wife as a supportive person both at political and family level.

He explained that his wife had a budget for those in need because she realised that Francistown West constituents were in abject poverty.

“She was a strong woman of note and we lived happily, despite the challenges that we faced in life,” said Mr Moswaane. ENDS
