Letsholathebe Memorial Hospital management has hailed the district’s political leadership for responding positively towards their needs.
This came after Members of Parliament for Maun East and West Messrs Dumelang Saleshando and Goretetse Kekgonegile jointly donated 200 blankets to the hospital in an effort to address shortage of blankets for patients.
Speaking during the handover ceremony recently, District Health Management Team coordinator, Dr Malebogo Kebabonye appreciated the donations, saying the blankets would make a huge difference in the lives of the patients.
She said shortage of bed linen could not be overemphasised, especially during winter, revealling that the hospital was challenged to supply blankets to patients, as the standard was three blankets per bed.
Dr Kebabonye commended the legislators for coming to their rescue during difficult times.
The 270-bed capacity Letsholathebe hospital has been upgraded to a referral facility, which does not only serve the Ngamiland region, but other regions such as Boteti, Chobe and Ghanzi.
She said they were privileged as a district hospital to have areas of specialty, thanks to their relationship with the Cuban government.
The hospital superintendent, Dr Lebogang Mokotedi thanked the political leadership for the generous gift, saying the blankets would go a long way in keeping patients warm during winter.
She encouraged the leadership to continue with the good spirit to improve the lives of the communities.
Mr Saleshando said they once visited the facility to appreciate the challenges and shortage of blankets was one of the burning issues, hence they found it fit to extend a helping hand.
He said although the blankets were not enough, they would improve the healthcare and reduce management’s worries.
He also appreciated that the management was striving to provide excellent service and make the facility a peaceful and healing home away from home.
Mr Saleshando assured the management that they would continue with their collaboration and see how best they could address the challenges faced by the facility. ends
