De Beers calls for WomEng fellowship applications

The De Beers Group has called for applications for the Women in Engineering (WomEng) Fellowship program.
A statement from De Beers Group says the fellowship will provide an opportunity for young women in the fields of engineering, technology and environment to apply for the fellowship that will equip them with the skills required by young graduates to succeed in industry and beyond.
It further states that this year’s program is redesigned as an online programme and materials and tools will be supplied to fellows to learn in their own space and time.
“The benefits of this exciting program include an opportunity to gain exclusive access to WomEng developed resources for leadership, innovation, employability, well-being skills, to grow one’s professional network and also access to numerous mentorship prospects,” says the statement.
Furthermore, the statement says engaged fellows will be invited to in-person networking events with leaders from De Beers Group in their countries; South Africa, Botswana or Namibia in 2021.
It also states that applicants must be studying full-time at a university or university of technology in South Africa, Botswana or Namibia saying even applicants who are not citizens of South Africa, Namibia or Botswana are also eligible to apply. It also says that applicants must be in the second last to final year of undergraduate studies or full-time postgraduate studies, entering the workplace in 2021 or 2022.
“In addition to the eligibility criteria stated, applicants must be able to commit between 7-9 hours each month between September 2020 and March 2021 to participate in the programme.
The programme is designed taking into consideration COVID-19 restrictions and foreseen academic workloads,” the statement explains.
The statement further states that applications must be completed online to the Link: https://bit.ly/womengsafellowship and the deadline for submission of applications is July 31 2020, at 23h59 SAST. ENDS
