Vice President, Mr Slumber Tsogwane has applauded dikgosi for playing a critical role in shaping the society and ensuring that the public adhered to COVID-19 health regulations and protocols.

Mr Tsogwane said this at a luncheon hosted for members of Ntlo ya Dikgosi recently.

“We are relying on you as traditional leaders and representatives of government in your societies to ensure that the COVID-19 health protocols are upheld among your communities,” he said.

The Vice President also applauded dikgosi for supporting President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi’s request to declare a state of public emergency in April.

He urged dikgosi to also encourage their communities to be self-reliant and continue manufacturing goods and growing their own food.

In a vote of thanks, Ntlo ya Dikgosi chairperson, Kgosi Puso thanked President Masisi for gracing the luncheon.

He highlighted that in the past years, when President Masisi was Leader of the House as well as Vice President, dikgosi and Parliament had an amicable relationship to address issues affecting their communities.

“This close relationship is still continuing with the current Vice President. 

Your presence and continuous support of Ntlo ya Dikgosi is appreciated and we assure you that as dikgosi, we will incessantly be part of the transformation agenda of building this beautiful nation,” he said.
