Dikgosi build LA 2 house for family

Dikgosi in the North East District have been hailed for building an LA 2 house for Mokibito family that was left homeless after fire gutted their homestead in Botalaote two years ago.
When handing over the house on July 18, Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Sethabelo Modukanele, stated that he was humbled by the noble gesture.
He said it was pleasing to witness dikgosi leading by example.
Mr Modukanele said giving was part of Batswana’s core values, adding that Vision 2036 underscored the importance of giving to the needy.
The assistant minister stated that he was motivated by dikgosi’s spirit of giving.
He indicated that the donation affirmed government’s emphasis on the importance of working as a united front.
Mr Modukanele applauded the Mokibito family for contributing money towards the building of their house when the project fund was getting depleted.
He thanked stateholders, who played part in building this house, further encouraging the district to remain united and continue practicing generosity.
Mr Thuso Mokibito expressed his joy over the house donation, stating that losing their house left his family of 12 stranded.
He said he was humbled by dikgosi for choosing his family to benefit from their corporate social responsibility activity.
He said the house had restored their dignity.
Mr Mokibito expressed gratitude towards every individual and company that donated towards construction of the house and wished them well.
Tati West MP, Mr Simon Moabi, applauded dikgosi for leading by example noting that this would encourage people to follow suit.
Mr Moabi thanked those who contributed towards success of this project.
He stated that the house donation was a proud moment for him as the area MP because it added on his road map of consultation and unity.
Kgosi Thuso Ramokate of Makaleng stated that the Mokibito family story touched them as leaders.
He reiterated that Botswana was built on a foundation of helping others
Kgosi Ramokate stated that dikgosi donated money towards the project and also approached businesses in the district to lend a hand in order for the house to be completed.
He said this gesture should be extended to other villages in the district so that many lives could be changed. Ends
