16 Jul 2020
Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services has told Ntlo ya Dikgosi that procurement process for Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA) for fields and farm layout plans is currently at adjudication level.
Mr Kefentse Mzwinila said the assessment process was anticipated to take approximately six months and thereafter the allocation process would commence.
Mr Mzwinila indicated that layout plans had, however, been prepared and were expected to yield 634 and 229 fields or integrated farms for Gumare and Etsha 6 villages respectively.
He added that land had also been identified for Seronga and Habu villages and preparation for detailed layouts was underway.
He said that the land board had been allocating ploughing fields as and when it identified unoccupied land in other villages like Shakawe.
The minister was responding to a question from specially elected member of Ntlo ya Dikgosi, Kgosi Divere Ndando who had wanted the minister to state when Okavango residents would be allocated arable land. ENDS
