Standard chartered donates sports equipment

13 Jul 2020

Standard Chartered Botswana on July 9 donated sports equipment worth P20 896 to Kareng Primary School in the North West District.

When handing over the donations, Standard Chartered Maun Branch Manager Mr Ikageng Robert said that the donations were meant to encourage and to motivate the learners to take part in sporting activities.

Mr Robert explained that the equipment would also improve pupils’ performance in sporting activities as they would be able to train accordingly.

He pointed out that the equipment would keep the learners engaged therefore help them refrain from bad habits which could negatively affect their academic performance.

Mr Robert also encouraged the learners to take sport seriously as they could use it to earn a living.

When receiving the donations, Kareng Primary School  sports and culture senior teacher Mr Baganetsi Kamanakao said most of their students stayed in school hostels where there was no parental guidance, therefore the sports equipment would keep them busy.

He said that their school had pupils talented in different sports but some lost interest due to lack of equipment.

Therefore, he said, the donation would boost pupils’ confidence.

Mr Kamanakao also applauded Standard Chartered for the good effort and encouraged them to continue with the good spirit as it was a very good way of improving students performance. Ends
