Speaking at a luncheon in Gaborone on July 10 to celebrate the success of the surgeries, Ministry of Health and Wellness deputy permanent secretary, Mr Moses Keetile thanked Gajog Investment, who have now become their partner, for the gesture.
Mr Keetile said the ministry aimed to provide quality health service but alone, government could not manage hence any assistance was welcome.
“On behalf of our patients, I would like to thank Mr Kim and his associates for the operations and also encourage others to engage with us to help those in need,” stated Mr Keetile.
Gajog Investment managing director, Mr Chae Soo Kim said the sponsorship had been running for three years.
He said the health ministry assisted in identifying beneficiaries needing eye surgery.
" I believe I have been blessed and duty bound to return the favour and give back to the community. There are people in dire need of help and therefore plan to continue to sponsor such surgeries in the future,” he said.
He said he planned to continue with his charity work and help wherever he could in future.
Gajog Investments has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Vision Care, an organisation consisting of doctors, nurses and volunteers who travel across the country assisting patients in need of eye surgery.
Gajog Investment in conjunction with Overseas Korean Trade Association and Association Africa also donated 2 000 masks to help fight COVID-19 pandemic.
