Orange Botswana is the latest to heed government’s call to assist in the fight against COVID-19 when it donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the SOS Village in Tlokweng.
Speaking at the handing over of the PPEs on July 8, Orange Botswana director of legal and cooperate affairs, Ms Lepata Mafa said the donation was aimed at managing the spread and the impact of the pandemic. She noted that her company donated P5 million to the COVID-19 Relief Fund in April and invested an additional P2 million in PPEs.
The equipment included 250 cloth masks, five thermometers, 50 litres of hand washing soap and five buckets.
Ms Mafa also noted that Orange had provided a free learning website and Orange money platform that would enhance and improve the learning environment for pupils and reduce teachers’ work load.
For his part, Lesunyaneng headman, Kgosi Kgosimore Taukobong appreciated the donation and appealed to house mothers to ensure that the equipment was used appropriately. He also appealed to potential donors to consider SOS so as to sustain the children and to bridge the gap between them and other children. Ends
