In support of efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, KIA and Tyre World have donated 250 litres of sanitizers worth P30 000 to the COVID-19 Relief Fund.
Handing over the donation in Serowe on July 8, Serowe based KIA Motors manager, Ms Gofaone Nthusang said the COVID-19 pandemic was a new territory for all.
She said time was now for all to recognise that they would get through the pandemic together with resolve, compassion and care. “This is an unusual time for all of us. At KIA Motors and Tyre World we need to do the right thing as COVID-19 is affecting nations around the world,’’ she said.
Serowe Sub-district council chairperson, Mr Lesedi Phuthego appreciated the donation and said it would go towards the COVID-19 Relief Fund set up by President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi.
Furthermore, he said the relief fund offered an opportunity for all to participate in fighting the pandemic, adding that it was upon businesses to show patriotism and corporate social responsibility.
For his part, Serowe Administrative Authority (SAA), senior assistant council secretary, Mr Ramphothoo Kedikilwe said Botswana should emerge from the trying times as an example to the world.
He also said it was the time government needed all the support and that the private sector should be encouraged to do better towards the control of the virus and help the less fortunate. Ends
