Nyangabgwe Referral and Tutume Primary Hospitals on July 4 received 160 blankets and 74 face masks from Minister of Basic Education, Mr Fidelis Molao and Assistant Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Mr Buti Billy.

The joint donation ceremony was held at Nyangabgwe hospital in Francistown.

Minister Molao, who is also Shashe West MP, said the gesture was meant to meet government half-way as the latter was financially stretched as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

He said it was because of this that he and Mr Billy saw it fit to extend a helping hand to the two facilities which had been experiencing shortage of blankets.

Mr Molao also pledged that the blanket donation would become an annual event.

Assistant Minister Billy, who is also Francistown East MP, was hopeful the gesture would go a long way in keeping patients of the two hospitals warm during winter.

He also commended employees of the two facilities for doing a sterling job of taking care of the sick amidst many challenges.

Nyangagbwe clinical manager, Dr Kobamelo Motshidisi had earlier expressed gratitude for the goodwill by the two legislators.

The gesture, he stated, was encouraging especially coming from the political leadership.

His sentiments were echoed by Dr Ivan Kgetse of Tutume Primary Hospital who said the gesture by the duo was a morale boost to staff members of the two hospitals.

Chairperson of Tutume Sub-district council, Mr Anthony Chebani, who also graced the occasion, said the two MPs’ gesture was an act of love.

“Blessed is the hand that giveth,” he said, marking the end of the brief donation session. Ends
