Headman of Arbitration, Kgosi Goitsheka Hetanang, who was born in 1952, was laid to rest at Tonota after succumbing to a long illness.

Speaking during a memorial service held at Tonota main kgotla, Kgosi Bokamoso Radipitse said Kgosi Hetanang knew all the corners of Tonota and that he left the legacy for him.

He said he also learnt how chieftainship operated from him and described him as an all-rounder who was conversant with all aspects of the law and how to run civil cases.

Kgosi Radipitse said the deceased used to calm him down when angry and always received the blows for the wrong doers.

The deceased’s uncle, Mr Osego Hetanang said although many people knew Kgosi Hetanang as a calm and humble man, he knew him as a man who was always ready to give advice.

For his part, Tonota Sub-district chairperson, Mr Christjan Machokoto said Kgosi Hetanang was a happy man who was always ready to provide assistance. Councillors, he added, also learnt about tribal administration issues from him.

He also said that he assisted in the preparation of Bot50 celebrations in the village.

He said Kgosi Hetanang started working at Madisakwana ward in 2000 and was later promoted to work at the main kgotla in 2015.

He said his legacy would give all people the strength to carry on where he left and requested all to celebrate the good moments they spent with him.

Kgosi Hetanang, who was popularly known as Mr H by his peers, is survived by a wife, son, grandson and two brothers. Ends
