WASBO sensitisation workshop tomorrow
25 Jun 2020
Women and Sport Botswana (WASBO) will tomorrow (June 26) hold a workshop to drill the media on gender sensitive reporting.
WASBO marketing, public relations and communications officer, Thulaganyo Retshabile, said the workshop was aimed at showing the media that WASBO recognised them for their role in assisting the organisation to deliver its mandate.
Retshabile said the media helped model public attitudes and perceptions about women and men, thus becoming an important partner in attraction and retention of women and girls in sport.
“The overall objective of the session is to contribute to a more diverse, gender sensitive media and society as well as promoting exchange of ideas and experiences between the media and WASBO,” she said.
International Working Group (IWG) on Women and Sport, executive board member, Game Mothibi, applauded WASBO for working hard to hold the media workshop.
However, she said, the workshop should have clear plan linking it to implementation of the IWG Big 5 legacy.
Having a clear plan and strategy, she said, would ensure it keeps the workshop discussions lively. ENDS
