Police worry over Potsane accidents
24 Jun 2020
Potsane Bridge, an area between Boatle and South East District Landfill along A1 road is notorious for road accidents and this is a cause for concern, Ramotswa Police Station commander, Superintendent Keoagile Tau has said.
Supt Tau said this following a head-on collision involving two sedans on June 21.
He said both drivers, male, were hospitalised at Princes Marina Referral Hospital in Gaborone while the passengers, among them a woman and minors aged between two years and nine months were recuperating at Balamete Lutheran Hospital in Ramotswa.
He said both vehicles were severely wrecked.
Supt Tau said one vehicle was going towards Lobatse and the other in the direction of Gaborone.
He warned drivers to be attentive on the road, adding that investigations continue, to determine the cause of the accident.
Supt Tau said the area around Potsane Bridge had a blind sport, which hindered visibility of oncoming traffic and cautioned drivers to be careful and avoid speeding.
“It is possible to avoid an accident when one is not speeding and it is better to arrive late than be late,” Supt Tau said.
The Ramotswa Police Station commander advised drivers to plan well for their trips and avoid last minute rush.
With increased mobility following easing of lockdown, Supt Tau said road accidents were increasing. ENDS
