“Come unto me all you that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest,” Pastor Mothusi Motlhanka of Assemblies of God reads from Mathew 11:28 to quell fear over the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pastor Motlhanka called on public servants to trust in God for guidance and direction during unprecedented times where fears of uncertainty lurked over many heads.
At a morning psychosocial support session, a tripartite effort between Directorate of Public Service Management, Botswana Christian AIDS Intervention Program and Network of Christian Communities, Pastor Motlhanka said many had been shaken and dampened by the pandemic.
Consequently, he called on employees to pin their hopes in God since his word ushered hope and light that illuminated the paths.
He warned that ignoring calls to come before God could see one being led astray by their selfish interests.
The pastor said COVID-19 was not end of life and he called on employees to walk away from fear.
Bobirwa Subordinate Council, senior assistant council secretary, Ms Gomolemo Moepeng, reiterated the need to look up to God during challenging times.
She also found out that many plans had been disrupted and so was the normal life.
Such enormous disruptions had potential to breed psycho-social challenges according to Ms Moepeng.
“The endeavor will see pastors from different denominations entering workplaces to identify and attend to clients for counselling,” reads part of the brief sent to different departments.
Pastors held a group counselling session following which individuals could arrange to meet them privately. ends
