Street photographers at Nswazi Mall were last week charged for failure to comply with the set rules and regulations of extreme social distancing.

Central Police Station Commander, Superintendent Lebalang Maniki said in an interview that the photographers were exposing the public to danger since they were operating in public space, where there was no control, adding that they were also gathering in numbers that did not augur with COVID-19 protocols.

He said as police officers, they discouraged overcrowding in public spaces, especially where there was no control.

“We are concerned about people who are not complying with the COVID-19 rules and regulations as it could expose the general populace to danger,” he said.

On other news, Supt Maniki relayed to BOPA that illegal boarder jumping was still an issue that needed to be attended to.

He said between 40 and 50 illegal immigrants were arrested and deported back to their country last week.

The said the aliens, all Zimbabwean nationals, according to Supt Maniki, were caught loitering the streets of the Francistown.

He thus advised the public to always comply to the set COVID-19 protocols to avoid contracting the coronavirus. ENDS
