21 Jun 2020

Sehithwa Service Centre coordinator, Mr Obakwe Tsholofelo says the North West District Council appreciates support from private entities and Non-Government Organisations such as Save Wildlife Conservation Fund Botswana.

Save Wildlife Conservation Fund Botswana on June 20 donated food to about 300 households in Nxaraga and surrounding settlements, to mitigate lockdown effects.
Mr Tsholofelo observed that the NGO was instrumental in issues of conservation.

He therefore, urged Nxaraga residents to have a relationship with the NGO.

Kgosi Gaolathwe Kgosigaenyatswe of Nxaraga appreciated the help, stating that the NGO had been a part of Nxaraga community since last year when it assisted with rescuing the hippos that were stranded in Nxaraga pools due to drought.

Save Wildlife Conservation Fund Botswana drilled boreholes and pumped water into the pools to save the animals.

Together with other NGOS, they also provided feeds for the hippos. The NGO’s country project director, Ms Wabotlhe Letubo said it realised the importance of community members in conserving wildlife and the donation would allow residents to stay home and avoid contracting COVID-19. ENDS
