Lulu ready to fight

23 Jan 2013

Lulu Sporting Club will approach its weekend assignment in buoyant mood after thrashing bottom club, Uniao Flamingo Santos 6-0 in Molepolole last weekend.

Lulu meet seventh-placed Eastern Pirates at Bophirima Primary School in the AT&T Monnakgotla women’s football league second round.

Sitting on 13th-place on the standings, Lulu would be eager to move away from the bottom half, with bottom five teams set to relegate at the end of the 2012/13 season when the women’s league creates a second division.

Gaborone-based Lulu were in mean mood on Sunday putting six past the Santos goalkeeper. Isaiah Galekhutle was a thorn on the side of their opponents, scoring a brace that ensured a loop-sided victory for her team.

Mosa Ramopedi, Gaone Mokgathi, Gaone Thobogang and Malebogo Aneeleng scored a one goal apiece to make the scoreline 6-0.

Lulu coach, Oaitse Moeti said of his charges’ win, “they are playing good football and making good runs and passes. But we need to improve our striking capabilities, because we miss a lot of scoring opportunities. We need someone who will always be there and stick in the opponent defensive line.”

Santos coach, Luke Ramaeba said their main problem was failure to play according to instructions. “We failed to attack and defend as a team and were unable to apply basic football tactics,” he observed.

Double Action top the standings with 48 points from 17 games, followed by Township Rollers with 44 points, and Prisons which has 35 points.

In other weekend matches, Gaborone United who were humbled 1-4 by UB Kicks on Saturday take on South East United at Water Utilities Ground on Saturday.

The Meet Girls lock horns with UB Kicks at New Look in Lobatse, while Manana welcome Mogoditshane Fighters in Molepolole. Vicomates face Big Sisters at Marulamantsi on Sunday. A mighty battle is anticipated between Township Rollers and Untouchable at Mmamasire ground.

Double Action which humiliated Big Sisters 14-0 over the weekend takes on third-placed Prisons at Bosele Primary School on Sunday. Real Touch welcomes bottom of the log Santos at the CFC ground. Ends
