Ramotswa’s Dinare Ipopeng Development Society has donated P10 000 to Bamalete Lutheran Hospital (BLH).
The donation was for the procurement of personal protective equipment, essential for the fight and control of COVID 19, it was explained.
Speaking during the handing over of the cheque Monday, Balete deputy chief and society ex-officio member, Kgosi Tsimane Mokgosi said its intension was to extend a helping hand to the hospital, which was playing a huge role in the fight against COVID 19.
Kgosi Mokgosi said the society had wanted to purchase and donate the protective equipment but procurement processes proved problematic.
Among the items the society wanted the hospital to buy are hand sanitizers, face shields, isolation and protective suits as well as infrared thermometers.
Kgosi Mokgosi advised the hospital management to fulfill the society’s desire by buying the equipment on its behalf.
BLH acting superintendent Dr Pierrot Mwanza expressed gratitude for the donation.
Noting that interventions towards the containment of COVID-19 came with costs, Dr Mwanza said the donation would be very helpful to the hospital in its response to the disease.
He added that the society’s donation showed that the hospital had the support of the community in the fight against COVID 19.
Society treasurer, Dr Gabriel Maotwanyane said its membership was men who wanted to give back to their community.
He called upon Ramotswa young people to emulate the society.
Re Fa Ka Bone Caring Centre, Balete Tribal Administration and Gamalete Development Trust have also benefited from the society’s generosity. ENDS
