Class of 96 gives back to former school

Mater-Spei college class of 1996 on Wednesday donated sanitisers, gloves, refills, masks and thermometers to the school.
Speaking during the donation, a representative of the former learners, Mr Michael Pezani said they found it necessary to assist the school with the resources to help in the fight against coronavirus.
He said as class of 96, they had been in partnership with the school for long hence it was necessary that they assisted the school during the times of need adding that the school was always cooperative and eager to work with them.
For his part, North East Chief Education Officer Mr Vumani Luckson said it was commendable for former students to give a helping hand to the school community.
He said it was imperative for Batswana to assist the government saying the latter was financially challenged and therefore could not go it alone.
Mr Luckson said opening the schools during the era of pandemic was a way of balancing the lives and future of the learners adding that their health was of high priority to both the ministry and the society. He applauded class of 96 for their support and urged them to continue assisting Mater-Spei college at all times.
For his part, Mater-Spei school head, Mr Jabulani Munyere said creating a new normal environment in schools during the period of the pandemic was still a challenge which needed much attention.
He said all stakeholders such as parents, learners and the staff had been taken on board with developments concerning COVID-19 protocols. Mr Munyere said the school had 1743 pupils and 130 teachers with 54 non-teaching staff. Ends
