MoHW donates to Sekgele

11 Jun 2020

Okavango Sub-district deputy district commissioner has implored government drivers to desist from misuse of vehicles.

Mr Thabang Waloka was speaking during the handing over of a Toyota Quantum donated by the Ministry of Health and Wellness to Sekgele Training Home Society in Gumare.

He said some drivers had the habit of defying CTO regulations that governed them such as the signing of the logbook.

The deputy district commissioner emphasised that every trip should be accounted for, and that specific and clear information about the trip should be provided on the logbook.

Mr Waloka added that the office of the district commissioner would work with Sekgele to ensure proper management of the donated vehicle.

He said although Sekgele was a non-governmental organisation, the vehicle was deliberately given a government registration number. He added that the organisation’s drivers would be inducted on requirements to use a government vehicle.

Chief health officer at the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Mr Ben Gareegope said the ministry had a budget set aside to aid centres such as Sekgele.

He also encouraged Sekgele management to take good care of the vehicle, adding that government funded such organisations for the benefit of the community and not individuals.

Mr Gareegope said Sekgele was founded with the aim to promote the rights, interests and participation of people living with disabilities as well as their caregivers. Ends
