Compliance pleases police chiefs

Police chiefs at both Francistown and Kutlwano police stations have commended the general public for complying with COVID-19 protocols.
Superintendent Lebalang Maniki of Francistown Police Station said in an interview on Monday that different entities such as bars, churches, public transport operators and the general public had adapted well to the new protocols of keeping themselves and the rest of the nation safe from contracting coronavirus.
The new norm of wearing face masks, registration of names and temperature checks conducted upon entry at shops as well as when boarding public transport was widely practised.
His sentiments were echoed by Superintendent Neo Serumola of Kutlwano Police Station who expressed happiness at the level of compliance to health protocols shown by members of the public.
According to Superintendent Serumola, the police station had recorded a few cases of petty crimes since the beginning of extreme social distancing over two months ago.
He appealed to residents to continue adhering to the health precautionary measures in order to keep coronavirus at bay.
A Francistown resident, Mr Ndipo Mongwa also expressed the same views on COVID-19 compliance in the second city.
“I do not remember a point when I felt that a combi driver or shop assistant was not complying with the protocols. In each shop they do check our temperature, register our names and also make sure we wear masks properly at all times,” he added.
Mr Mongwa said also that he was happy with the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry’s decision to restrain people from trying on clothes in shops which he said promoted hygiene.
He advised the public to remain patient while both government and other key stakeholders continued to fight the virus that had killed many people across the globe. Ends
