Botswana Post mitigates challenges posed by COVID-19

Botswana Post is said to have experienced a significant decline on revenue which resulted to P151 million loss by end of March this year.
Briefing the media on Botswana Post COVID-19 response and preparedness Tuesday the Chief Executive Officer of Botswana Post, Mr Cornelious Ramatlhakwana said like any other entity his organisation had been hit by the impact of COVID-19, adding that most of the cash flow comes from the third party contracts whose performance was affected by lockdown.
Mr Ramatlhakwana also said that their organisation experienced some delay in receiving international mail due to travel restrictions imposed as a result of COVID -19 pandemic. However he assured the nation that they had since put some measures in place to mitigate the challenges brought by the outbreak of coronavirus.
Mr Ramathakwana indicated that they have since put interventions in place to mitigate the challenges by reviewing their business model which was technology driven to improve their services.
Mr Ramathakwana said most of their new services would greatly help Batswana as they could access them at their comfort zone without visiting their offices, citing DRTS online, virtual teller machines, Poso Cloud and Poso Money as some of their services.
He said Poso money came conveniently to assist as payment option for the disbursement of social grants, adding that they had partnered with Choppies as a pay point through their 94 stores countrywide. Ends
