Digital platform undergoes repair

09 Jun 2020

The digital registration platform (App) announced two weeks ago will be introduced soon,  COVID-19 task force coordinator, Dr Kereng Masupu has said.

In an interview with BOPA yesterday, Dr Masupu said they the electronic register had been piloted but should have been launched two weeks ago.

The launch has been delayed by technical hiccups that were currently being attended to, he said.

He said the register would be placed at entrances to public places, mostly supermarkets, afor visitors to scan with their phones, which would reduce queues that are currently being experienced.

Dr Masupu said a customer would be required to avail personal details when registering to use the app for the first time, including names and cell number and from there they would download an application on their phones to use when needed.

He mentioned that the app could be downloaded to any phone.

The launch of the electronic register is a part of the strategy to prevent the spread of the coronavirus as well as enable ease of contact tracing. Ends
