Francistown East MP Mr Buti Billy in partnership with Esmage Fashions has donated 684 face masks and eight blankets to primary schools in Francistown East and West constituencies.
The donation was handed over to the school heads of the eight selected schools and to the office of the District Commissioner on June 6.
Each school received face masks for the less privileged students, one blanket for each school’s sick bay while the office of the District commissioner received masks for the elderly.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Mr Billy said teachers were important stakeholders in the development of any country.
“I know at the moment your working conditions are not favourable but government is working hard to appreciate your role towards the upbringing of our children,” he said.
The MP said he was hopeful that the donations would help the schools more as it was clear that not all students complied with the set precautionary measure of wearing masks.
He added that the donated blankets would support the schools during the winter season to keep the students warm as the nation was fighting COVID-19.
On behalf of other school heads, Pelotshwana Primary School Head Mr Michael Mothibi thanked the office of Francistown East MP and Esmage Fashions for exercising their social responsibility.
He highlighted the importance of continued assistance and collaboration in supporting the community.
The schools who benefited from the donation are Nyangagwe Primary, Maradu Primary, Satelitte Primary, Our Lady of The Desert Primary, Pelotshwana Primary, Ikhutseng Primary, Lekgaba Primary all from Francistown east constituency and Mahudiri Primary school in west constituency. Ends
