 Donors to the COVID-19 Relief Fund  have been urged to ensure that their employees were well taken care of and continued to receive their dues.

  Receiving more donations to the fund in Gaborone yesterday, Minister for  Presidential Affairs Government and Public Administration, Mr Kabo Morwaeng encouraged donors, especially employers, to do everything necessary to ensure workers’ welfare was not jeopardised.

 Mr Morwaeng emphasised that government’s desire was to save as many jobs as possible during the pandemic period which was why the wage subsidy was set up.  

 He said  government was filled with pride for the overwhelming response to the appeal for contributions to the fund. 

The pandemic, he said, was a reminder to Batswana that the  nation was built through the spirit of togetherness. 

Mr Morwaeng said all sectors continued to do their part   mentioning the business and religious communities, workers, societies and NGOs.

He said individual citizens had not been left behind as thousands of Batswana across the country had made varying contributions to the country’s efforts in containing the pandemic.

Minister Morwaeng assured the nation and all donors that all their assistance would be accounted for as per President Masisi’s recent reiteration that corrupt and illegal practices would be dealt with.

“It is this addiction to the rule of law which compels us to fully account to Batswana. You will be aware that government continues to publish donor names through various media to allow for transparency and accountability,” he said. Ends
