COVID-19 times tough for many - education official
02 Jun 2020
Not every parent can afford to provide for their children under the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking at the handing over of 161 face masks by Kazungula Stationers to Kazungula Primary School Standard Seven pupils who opened schools yesterday, Chobe basic education regional director, Ms Lillian Matshameko explained that the donation was a positive gesture to show that everyone was concerned with the impact of COVID-19 in the education sector.
“We are not even sure whether all the Standard Seven pupils will be wearing masks tomorrow, therefore the donation will bridge that gap,” she added.
Kazungula Primary School head, Ms Sepiso Ramonkga and Councillor Gabaelelwe Rancholo said the donation came at the right time when the Standard Seven classes open and thanked the owner of Kazungula Stationers, Mr Sivaji Raji for the kind donation after a request was made by the school’s Parents Teachers Association (PTA).
Ms Ramonkga explained that Mr Raji had been supportive to the school during difficult times.
For his part, Mr Raji said the total cost of the masks was P1 200, adding that he would continue to be part of the school community. Ends
