Moshupa man murders hangs himself

02 Jun 2020

A 37-year-old man of Moshupa is suspected to have hanged himself after murdering his girlfriend.

Ramotswa Police Station commander, Superintendent Keoagile Tau said in an interview on Tuesday that the case was reported to them on the morning of June 1.

He said the man, who worked at Notwane’s Woodpecker Lodge, hanged himself at the facility’s conference centre.

Supt Tau said the man used something suspected to be an axe to murder the girlfriend and the mother of his two children, who hailed from Mogonye.

Although the investigations are still ongoing, the police say they found a note in which the deceased indicated that he deemed the decision he took to be appropriate.

Supt Tau said they did not know what could have triggered the murder/suicide as colleagues affirmed to have been with him and he did not exhibit any sinister motives.

He pleaded with the community to always seek counselling from elders, friends, the police, pastors and social workers when they are overwhelmed or going thorough challenges.

Supt Tau regretted that the number of murder cases continued to rise even though the police always pleaded with people to seek help before resorting to such heinous actions. Ends
