Community testing starts in Mogoditshane tomorrow
30 May 2020
Ministry of Health and wellness Public Health Specialist Dr Lebapotswe Tlale has announced that his ministry would conduct a random community COVID-19 testing in Mogoditshane from May 31.
This comes after four Zimbabwean nationals who tested positive in Zimbabwe were found to have been staying in Mogoditshane prior to their departure. Dr Tlale said the testing would take a week. Dr Tlale indicated that their target was 6 000 people from 1 600 households in Mogoditshane, saying Mogoditshane was seen as a high risk area due to the cases in Zimbabwe, which were traced back to the village.
He further indicated that all wards in Mogoditshane would be tested with selected people, pointing that as COVID-19 protocols dictate, if the virus is found on a large scale they would follow the necessary protocols to contain the disease. He also said after the release of results, contact tracing would also be done among those who tested positive.
Dr Tlale further advised the public, especially in Mogoditshane, to remain calm as the exercise was not meant to discriminate against anyone. ENDS
