Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Dr Thapelo Matsheka has donated 120 hand sanitisers to fight COVID-19 pandemic in churches in Lobatse.
The one-litre sanitisers were given to Lobatse Ministers Fraternal on May 28 to share amongst various churches.
Dr Matsheka, who is also MP for Lobatse constituency, said churches such as most sectors in the society, were adversely affected financially by the recently lifted national lockdown hence he found it necessary to assist churches in Lobatse with sanitisers.
The area MP said the donation would help churches to meet the hygiene and safety requirements by the Ministry of Health and Wellness as they move to re-start services.
Churches are currently allowed to hold services of not more than 50 congregants with every single congregant hand sanitised before a church service could take place.
Welcoming the donation, chairperson of the Lobatse Ministers Fraternal, Pastor Susan Tafa said churches were grateful for the gesture from the minister.
“We are delighted by this assistance because it is very hard to find hand sanitisers in the market these days,” she said.
She promised total adherence to COVID-19 requirements by churches in Lobatse. ENDS
