Govt grateful to donors

Vice President Mr Slumber Tsogwane has expressed government’s gratitude to donors who continue to donate to the COVID 19 relief fund.

Receiving donations in cash and kind worth P2.5 million from various donors at the Office of President on Thursday May 28, Mr Tsogwane said government was appreciative towards all the assistance rendered by the general public and private sector in assisting government in the battle against coronavirus pandemic.

He said the outbreak had exemplified the solidarity and unity that the nation was known for, as various entities relentlessly responded positively towards President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi’s plea to relief those in dire need during difficult times.

Mr Tsogwane credited all the donors highlighting that the country had made positive strides in curbing the spread of the Coronavirus due to the citizens’ compassionate philanthropic gestures.

He further credited local innovators for inventing measures that had been convenient in preventing the spread of the virus, adding that the outbreak should serve as a wakeup call for local inventors and business community and promote the spirit of self-reliance among Batswana.

He warned that local business community needed to proactively respond to COVID-19 pandemic by intensively investing in local manufacturing of goods and other commodities in the aftermath of the pandemic.

The P2.5 million worth of donations were received from BIUST University, Morupule Coal Mine, O3 water supplies, St John Apostolic Faith Mission, MPHKK Seherero Society, Botswana Gujarati Samaj, Botswana Mine Workers Union, Balekane Ba Botswana, Majestic and Cumberland Hotel group, Marsh Insurance, Chainring cyclists and Jacobs ladder Church.
