BotswanaPost introduces new channel for social grants payment
26 May 2020
BotswanaPost will start disbursing funds via PosoMoney on June 1 following enlistment of mobile wallet solution alias PosoMoney, as a payment option for payment of social grants.
The development follows successful approval of the BotswanaPost Mobile Money License application under the Electronic Payment Services (EPS) Act of 2019.
In a press release, BotswanaPost says as part of the phase one roll-out, the organisation has partnered with Choppies as a pay-point through their 94 stores countrywide.
The strategic development, the release says serves to also position BotswanaPost as a diversified service aggregator.
The release also states that although precipitated by the COVID-19 pandemic response and the need to adhere to the social distancing protocols and guidelines, PosoMoney is expected to significantly reduce queues and bring efficiencies at post offices.
It further says PosoMoney is an interoperable solution making it an ideal mobile wallet option accessible to beneficiaries regardless of their preferred mobile network operator.
Again, it says BotswanaPost will continue to explore other ways for strategic collaboration especially with private business to bring postal services closer to communities. ENDS
