26 May 2020
The Office of the President has donated toiletry, cleaning detergents and sanitisers to the Ghanzi District Council to be used in Rural Area Dweller Settlements (RADS) hostels.
Handing the donation to the council on May 25, Ghanzi District Commissioner, Mr Mooketsi Lesetedi said the donation was part of government commitment to ensure that public schools complied with COVID-19 regulations and added that hygiene could not be ignored during this period.
The donation is to benefit five RADS hostels in the entire district
Mr Mooketsi also handed 500 food hampers that were donated by World Group of Companies through the Office of the President towards Charleshill sub-district.
When receiving the food hampers, Ghanzi District Council Secretary, Mr Dick Kalantle said the donation would come handy as the society was still grappling with the effect of COVID-19, citing that some employees from the tourism sector did not earn anything while some were on half salaries.
Mr Kalantle also stated that they had discovered that 181 households at Charleshill sub-district were yet to receive COVID-19 food basket relief assistance. ENDS
