Chobe schools ready to re-open

All schools in the Chobe District are ready to re-open on June 2 following closure on March 23.
Chobe District Council chairperson, Mr Amos Mabuku, said this in an interview after visiting some schools.
Mr Mabuku explained that readiness to re-open was over 80 per cent, essential works done included maintenance of school ablution blocks as well as installation of water tanks and hand water basins.
Mr Mabuku, who is also councillor for Satau/Parakarungu, said the district council had already disbursed sanitisers, soap dispensers, anti-bacteria soap, toilet paper and disposal bins to ensure compliance to COVID-19 protocols.
To affirm readiness, a chemical company, Flasht Chemical Solutions, disinfected all the primary schools in the Chobe East Enclave including Chobe Junior Secondary School.
Satau Primary School head, Ms Mambo Molongwane, praised the council for speeding up all preparations for re-opening of schools.
Ms Molongwane indicated that her school had already received necessary cleaning material, washing soap, sanitisers and toilet paper while maintenance of school toilets and installation of hand water basis was almost complete.
She also said when the school re-opens on June 2, temperature checks and frequent washing of hands would be a norm.
Furthermore, she explained that the school had identified a classroom spacious enough to accommodate all the 22 standard seven pupils to observe social distancing. Ends
