Tlokweng primary schools ready to reopen
22 May 2020
Tlokweng Primary schools are said to be ready for reopening scheduled for next month.
Temperature checks, frequent washing of hands and using maintained toilets will be the norm when the schools reopen next month as COVID-19 pandemic continues to change the social orientation and practices.
The sub-district council has already disbursed sanitisers, soap dispensers, anti-bacteria soaps, toilet papers and disposal bins to its school to ensure compliance to the new protocols.
“As this moment I would say our schools are ready,” the sub-district’s council Senior Assistant Council Secretary (SACS) Mr Isaiah Odirile said in an interview on Friday, May 22.
To affirm their readiness, the sub-district council has already disinfected all its four primary schools and Mr Odirile said the schools were disinfected this week as part of the preparations for the envisaged reopening of schools on June 2.
Disinfecting public schools is part of the ongoing efforts to make the premises safer for learners’ usage as part of fighting COVID-19 pandemic and schools are also in the process of engaging additional cleaners who will be engaged under the Ipelegeng programme.
The additional cleaners will help to ensure that the school premises remain clean at all times.
“We have met with school heads and have requested them to ensure that there is enough supervision to avoid vandalism,” he added.
Mr Odirile further said the sub-district council did not build additional toilets in schools as the existing structures were found to be adequate. Ends
