Truck drivers testing commences at Mamuno
COVID-19 tests for truck drivers entering Botswana through Mamuno Border Post commenced Saturday, May 16.
This follows the arrival of a mobile laboratory at the border post on May 16.
Ghanzi District Health Management Team coordinator, Ms Keitumetse Maapatsane stated in an interview that 79 drivers were tested as of Sunday and all tested negative for the virus
Ms Maapatsane explained that the testing machine had a capacity to accommodate eight specimens at a time, and the results ready in an hour.
She noted that they had received communication that truck drivers should not wait for their results at the border but should be escorted until their point of delivery, adding that the truckers were cooperating.
Regarding those returning from Namibia, Ms Maapatsane stated that they had seven people quarantined at Nammane Guest house in Ghanzi, four of whom had tested negative.
She said out of the four, three would be departing to Gaborone, while another would be heading to the Okavango area.
Ms Maapatsane further stated seven people were in home quarantine and their test results were expected on Friday, May 22. Ends
