Truck drivers no longer wait for COVID-19 results

Truck drivers will no longer wait for their COVID-19 test results, but rather they will get them on the way as they traverse through the country to their destinations.
One of the testing doctors at the Kazungula border, Dr Rapelang Peter, said in an interview that an agreement was reached that truck drivers should not wait for their results at border posts.
He explained that this was due to the fact that waiting for results took many days, thus leading to congestion at borders where the drivers parked their trucks.
He, however, explained that the drivers were escorted until they exited the country, adding that today’s batch, who mostly tested negative was escorted by members of the Botswana Defence Force (BDF).
Dr Peter explained that those remaining would be tested and leave immediately to their destinations without knowing their results and will get them on their way.
Truck drivers were included in the essential services, but the recent developments in which two truck drivers tested positive in the greater Gaborone forced the government for a mandatory test to fight the deadly virus. Ends
