Huawei donates thermal temperature testing machine

Huawei has donated a P160 000 thermal temperature testing machine to the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

 Receiving the donation Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Thulagano Segokgo said the machine came at the right time when the world was grappling with COVID-19 pandemic.

He said the machine came handy as it was able to scan temperatures in a crowd and able to identify those that were exhibiting fever symptoms.

He said the machine was important for purposes of controlling the spread of coronavirus and other future medical conditions.

Minister Segokgo said the machine’s ability to detect the temperature in a large setting was highly appreciated particularly for his ministry as some of his departments render service to a lot of people.

On other issues, he said the Fourth Industrial Revolution was very important to the ministry’s agenda, adding that the expectations were that Huawei would continue to work with the ministry in an effort to attain the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Huawei managing director, Mr Ye Hui Hui said the company was committed to helping government achieve Fourth Industrial Revolution.

He said the company had been operating in Botswana for the past 15 years and as such, they understand challenges faced by Batswana.

He highlighted that during extreme social distancing period, some of their engineers were in Botswana to help customers.

He said their customers and partners like BoFiNet experienced high network traffic during the lockdown, adding that they managed to solve more than 100 network issues. ENDS
