Saverite in Metsimotlhabe steadily becoming normal

14 May 2020

The managing director of Saverite supermarket in Metsimotlhabe, Mr Abul Basar says they are steadily recovering from the closure that they went through some two weeks ago.

He said they had to close the supermarket following health officials’ instructions after one of their customers tested positive for COVID-19 recently.

He noted that contact tracing revealed that one confirmed COVID-19 person used their facility. He said upon reopening the number of customers were low but were now becoming better day after day.

Mr Basar said it appeared people were afraid to use the store following the customer who tested positive, but said the situation was becoming better and would soon be normal.

He said he encouraged customers to follow government and WHO protocols such as social distancing, use of sanitisers, registration and temperature checks as well as the wearing of masks.

Mr Basar said he had instructed staff to ensure that all those who entered the store satisfied the set protocols, and that those who refused to adhere should not be allowed to enter.

Meanwhile, a short survey on various roadblocks mounted around the city revealed that people did adhere to the wearing of masks. ENDS
