Taxi operators commend government
12 May 2020
Selebi Phikwe Taxi Association chairperson, Mr Bareetsi Sanoto has commended government for easing extreme social distancing regulations.
He said they were determined to work with transport officials to ensure that taxi operators abide by COVID-19 protocols.
Taxi operators are expected to clean their vehicles with water and soap and sanitise two to three days a day.
Loading capacity for taxi services shall be on special or 60 per cent of the seating capacity.
Taxi operators are also expected to keep a register of all passengers who board their vehicles.
Mr Sanoto said although the regulations were time consuming, operators should understand that it was time to help the nation.
He, however, complained that the extreme social distancing period had resulted in the mushrooming of illegal transport operators.
Mr Sanoto called on transport officials and police officers to help them curb the challenge. ENDS
