Births deaths registration continue despite pandemic
11 May 2020
Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs, Mr Molefi Keaja says under the civil and national registration department, births and deaths certificates issuance will continue to be registered in the various civil and national registration offices across the country.
Briefing the media on his ministry’s readiness on the second phase of lockdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr Keaja said no penalty would be meted against an individual with an expired Omang during this period.
Mr Molefi said however, services such as wedding registrations, issuance of new national cards, name change, and attendance of churches had been suspended during this period so as to control the movement of individuals as per the COVID-19 healthcare regulations.
He however urged church leaders and committee members to prepare their establishments in the meantime to comply with the Ministry of Health and Wellness COVID-19 regulations while awaiting any announcements that the Ministry of Health and Wellness might issue. ENDS
