Zimbabwe’s Prophetic, Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries led by Prophet Walter Magaya donated 333 bags of 12.5kg maize meal to the North East District COVID-19 task team to be distributed to those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Receiving the donations on May 11, Member of Parliament for Tati West, Mr Simon Moabi thanked PHD ministries for the donation.

Mr Moabi said it was commendable to see a church lending a helping hand upon realising how the pandemic affected many lives.

He stated that it was noble for a church based in Zimbabwe to donate to Botswana because they could have chosen to give the gifts to their countrymen but chose to go beyond borders.

The MP said the gesture also strengthened the ministries’ local followers by giving them hope and instilling the spirit of giving in them.

Mr Moabi said a church was a place of hope for those whose spirits may be dampened hence noting that it strengthened people when churches donate as it represents the kingdom of God.

The MP further commended North-East District public officers for championing the food baskets distribution in the district adding that government relief programme would not have been a success without them.

PHD ministries country coordinator Ms Gaone Sankoloba said the donation was an act of love from their leader Prophet Magaya who saw it fit to extend a hand of generosity and help Batswana.

She highlighted that Prophet Magaya acknowledged the role and importance of his congregants in Botswana hence he did not just focus in Zimbabwe but went beyond borders to touch lives.

Ms Sankoloba stated that they hoped the maize meal would go a long way in touching those affected by the pandemic.

North East District assistant district commissioner, Ms Itani Mathumo said the donation would help those who could not provide for themselves during the extreme social distancing period.

Ms Mathumo also pleaded with companies and individuals who had means to continue with giving to the less priviledged people. ENDS
