Botswana Defence Force (BDF) 2 Brigade Commander and the North Region Task Force commander, Brigadier Joseph Seelo, has commended Boteti COVID-19 team for working in unison against the pandemic.
Brig Seelo said this on Thursday during the COVID-19 pandemic meeting in Letlhakane. He stated that the BDF team dispatched to Boteti was able to fit in and discharge their duties in a smooth manner since there was a well-established structure in place.
Brig Seelo acknowledged that Letlhakane was a highly populated village due to the mines on its surroundings and therefore required to be reinforced to assist in controlling movement.
Deputy district commissioner, Mr Ewetse Selelo, stated that the presence of the BDF made a significant difference in ensuring compliance to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr Selelo said BDF had enabled the district Commissioners’ office to control movements, adding that the officers were professional in addressing those who violated COVID-19 pandemic regulations.
“They went beyond their line of duty, which also made the public realise that their presence was not to harass them but to help them fight the pandemic,” he said.
Botswana Police Service's Officer Commanding District No.8, Senior Superintendent Sarah Gabathusi, appreciated the assistance offered by BDF in Boteti. Ends
