A social football club in Lobatse, Dipashasha, has heeded the call by government to assist people affected by the extreme social distancing.
The club on Thursday, may 07 donated food parcels worth P2 800 to the Lobatse constituency office for distribution to members of the community in urgent need of food due to the lockdown.
The club’s public relations officer, Mr Kenneth Songo explained that the money for the donation came from contributions by team members.
Mr Songo said one of the club’s annual objectives was to make donations to under-privileged members of the community.
“This time around we have responded to the COVID-19 call because we saw that there were challenges in our community, so we decided to assist where we could,” Mr Songo said.
He added that the club also extended assistance to any of their members who experienced difficulty during the lockdown by buying food for them.
Lobatse constituency office administrator, Mr Francis Mokwena thanked Dipashasha for showing concern during this challenging time.
“We appreciate what this team has done. Statistics indicate that there are many people in this constituency who are under-privileged. Your contribution therefore will go a long way in addressing the challenges faced by some people at this particular period,” Mr Mokwena said. ENDS
