'Do not share face masks'
06 May 2020
Batswana have been urged not to share masks to avoid spread of the coronavirus.
Speaking at handing over of 490 cloth masks and two 25 litres of sanitisers to the Kavimba community by Kavimba at Heart Group today, clinic matron, Ms Clare Komboni said sharing of face masks could be one of the quickest ways to spread coronavirus and other diseases.
She also advised people to always wash their masks after use.
Chobe District commissioner, Ms Sekgabo Makgosa, explained that it was encouraging to see local groups such as Kavimba at Heart joining the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
That, she said, was testimony that everyone must play their role, adding that the donation would go a long way in preventing spread of the virus.
However, Ms Makgosa indicated that the main challenge was that people continued to seek movement permits under dubious circumstances or false reasons.
For her part, Kavimba at Heart Group representative, Ms Manga Porote said the donation came after the group embarked on a fund raising activity where members raised over P8 000.
She said they had to channel all funds towards the fight against COVID-19 because they believed that health should take precedence.
Meanwhile, the area councillor, Mr Chimney Mululwani explained that Garden Lodge in Kasane also donated 80 bags of 12.5kg bags of mealie meal to the village. ENDS
