Malaria cases are reported to be going down in Bobirwa region.
Acting medical officer at Bobonong Primary Hospital, Dr Jean Lundemba said in a telephone interview, May 4, that malaria cases reached peak mid-April and started going down towards the end of the month.
The hospital registered 131 cases of malaria in April, the highest tally since the outbreak in February this year.
In February the hospital registered only four cases, 40 cases in March before cases escalated remarkably in the beginning of April.
By May 4, the hospital had registered just two cases of malaria.
Dr Lundemba said that his team had anticipated that the disease would break out end of last year, but that happened February this year. He attributed the outbreak to stagnant water that provided breeding ground for malaria causing mosquito. Ends
